Ok, I know Martz is in Detroit now. But I still want to blog about the Rams (and ocassionally the football Cardinals). So I’m going to continue on with the MuckFartz Blog!

Let me just start out with a few observations… WE RAN THE BALL! Thats right folks. The first game under a new coach and Stephen Jackson gets 120+ rushing yards and we win. Who would have thought huh?

Oh, and Martz’ new offense? Put up a whopping 6 points. Good thing they ran Mooch off huh?

Also, Kurt Warner is still a stud. He threw for 300+ yards, 3 scores and NO Int. Thats right. None. So, all you Warner haters, get ready to eat your words. I’m predicting an MVP year for Warner and that the Rams are going to have some heavy competition from the birds out west (Seahawks and Cardinals).

Thats all for now but check back early and often Rams fans. And remember… Muck Fartz!

Well, it looks like WR Isaac Bruce will be a Ram again next season. After cutting Bruce just a couple of days ago for salary cap reasons, the Rams have reportedly agreed to a deal with the veteran. Interesting to me was that Detroit was reportedly very interested in Bruce since Martz is now the O-coordinator there. Personally I think this reflects a bit on what Bruce thinks of Martz but you know nothing like that would ever get into the media. Bruce is too classy for that.

Anyway, I also have a new site up about St. Louis sports. Well mostly… the site FanForHire.com is dedicated to the rivalry between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs. Being a die-hard Cards fan, I am offering to root for the Cubs… for a price. Yes, its a bit like selling your soul to the devil but as you can read here, just like the professional players these days (Johnny Damon etc) every fan has his price. Anyway, take a look, read the blog, tell your friends about it and maybe even donate a bit to the cause. Thanks and enjoy!

What a night… forget the Rams for a minute… have you ever seen ANYTHING like Pujols’ home run last night? I mean that was AMAZING. The single best sports moment of my life. I’m pretty sure I heard the intercom come on in the stadium last night saying “Would the hitter who just stole the heart of the Houston ball club please return it immediately?” Anyway… I would LOVE for the Cards to win the series but this single home run allowed me to feel better about this post season. Those cheap little panzy homers that the Astros hit, that should have been fly ball outs in any other park, didn’t end up mattering at all. Pujols JACKED that thing 400+ feet and it would have been out in ANY park in the league. It was a BOMB. Go Cardinals!

Oh and the Rams got stomped by the Colts. The Colts are a great team and the Rams are not.

Ok well this week has been a busy one in St. Louis sports. The Cardinals are up 2 – 0 and look to finish off the sweep in San Diego on Saturday. For the life of me I cant figure out why Morris is starting over Suppan who ended up with a few more wins and a point lower ERA. Oh well, hopefully it wont come back to bite us. Oh and after most of St. Louis gave themselves ulcers worrying about Izzy, did all of you happen to see what Brad Lidge did last night? He came in with his team down by like 6 runs, obviously a pressure free situation and proceeds to perform poorly. The ESPN announcers mentioned how it is common for closers to come in, in non-save situations and perform poorly. So, what happened to Izzy on Tuesday… was NORMAL! No more worrying (myself included in this).

Now, the Rams… they are the favorites with a 3 point spread. To me that seems like easy money if I were a betting man. However, there are a few wild cards thrown into the mix. The Showtime boys are reporting that Martz might be coaching from the booth this Sunday. What kind of effect will that have on the team and the game? I have NO idea. If nothing else it should cut down on the stupid challenges… you’d hope anyway. Also how much will the team be distracted by Martz’s illness or will they rally round the skipper? Another wild card. All that having been said, I still think that Alexander is going to run WILD over the Rams D. I’m talking to the tune of 150+ yards. That’s just how I see it happening. I don’t give much credence to the fact that the Rams beat the ‘hawks 3 times last year. Its tough to consistently beat a team that is so familiar with you and your schemes. I predict a Rams loss, in the double digits range…

The Blues… I still don’t give a puck. The Blues obviously don’t care if anyone pays any attention to the team this year other than the prospective buyers. Why else would you trade away your captain, who happens to also be your best player, who will benefit GREATLY from the rule changes? I mean shoot, they might as well call the rule that doesn’t count the center line in the two line pass “The Pronger Rule”. Anyway like I said, I don’t give a puck.

I think that’s all I got for now… oh and just for the record… I hope I’m wrong on the Rams game…

Mike Martz had better be rooting for the Cardinals to not only go to, but WIN the World Series. As most of St. Louis is understandably caught up in playoff fever, the focus has been shifted away from the spanking the Rams got last Sunday at the hands of the New York Giants. Hey, I’m not blaming the public, I am guilty of the same thing. I went to the game yesterday and didn’t think once about how I thought drunk guy next to me could come up with a better game plan against the Giants than the one our mad genious showd us last Sunday. Martz and the Rams, it appears, have gotten away with simply sticking their collective heads in the sand and pretending last week’s game never happened. Martz said that they aren’t going to look at the game tape, they are going to move on. Well, luckily for Martz, the Cardinals have two home playoff games this week, and the Blues open their season after a year off. Now, I don’t really give a puck about the start of the hockey season, but that along with the playoff atmosphere which has engulfed the city, allowed Martz to get away with his McGwire-esque statement of looking forward, not looking back at that embarassment they called a game. Well Mike, enjoy your temporary reprieve from the judgemental observations of an increasingly hostile public, it wont last long. The Cardinals leave town just in time for your game against the also awful Seattle Seahawks. If you lose that game, no amount of Cardinal baseball or Blues hockey (does anyone really care about this? can I just stop even mentioning it?) will distract St. Louis from calling for your head. As much as I HOPE you get your D back in line and find the running game that you seemed to have misplaced last week, I kind of expect the
petition
to start filling up before long.
