So, I’m sure most of you thought that Mr. Martz entering the hospital shortly after this blog started picking up steam was a fluke. I mean surely I didn’t hate Mike THAT much right? Well to be perfectly honest I did. But, I never really knew whether I (and more importantly this site) played a roll in coach’s demise. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my suspicions. I mean, there’s a reason I haven’t resurrected this site now that “the Genious” is in Detroit. I just don’t have time for all the legal mumbo jumbo that would surely ensue if I killed the guy via a blog.

Anyway, as I said, up until this point I haven’t ever been SURE that a blog could actually affect sports. Well today I got my confirmation. And better yet, apparently I’m not the only one with these powers. No, seriously! Just look at the Sports Guy’s latest blog post!

See? Now sure, he only slightly injured a couple of players and I put a head coach (I use the term loosely) into the hospital with heart problems, but we won’t hold that against the SportsGuy (SG from here on out). I’ve got to say, it’s nice to be in such good company. It’s quite an elite club it seems. I wonder if I’ll have to go to meetings or pay dues or anything…

Anyway I’ve officially offered my services to SG should he need someone with a little more… experience shall we say, in this area. I know Doc Rivers will be fired at the end of this season but I strongly suspect that SG would like to see Danny Ainge go the way of Martz as well…. call it a hunch. Anyway I’ll keep you all updated should the Sports Guy actually respond.

Now, if you are any kind of football fan and you WEREN’T watching the Rose Bowl tonight, you missed out. Two great teams, both of which could probably have beaten the Houston Texans, battled it out and in the end it came down to the last moments of the game. During the next couple of days you are going to read a ton of articles about the amazing performance Vince Young put up, and probably even more horrible puns on his name (Vince-anity, in Vince able etc etc).

After vomitting, I’d like you to look a bit deeper into the statistics. Specifically look at the number of times Vince ran the ball and to which direction. Now, as many of the Martz loving emailers have pointed out, I am no football coach. BUT, I do know that when a guy beats you that many times in a row, in exactly the same way, adjustments need to be made. To be honest, I dont place the victory at Vince Young’s feet… I place the blame soley at the feet of Pete Carroll.

The adjustment wasnt made. To top it all off, Carroll killed any chance of a dramatic Leinart led last minute comeback when he burned the Trojans’ last time out on a two point conversion. What exactly were you going for there coach? Did Martz call you up and suggest that you take the TO? Are you jockying to become the next head coach of the St. Louis Rams? No? Then what the hell were you hoping to do with that TO? Just for the record, the Trojans would have been behind no matter if Texas converted or not. Also, the last time I checked, there are no two point offensive plays in football… If you were wanting to direct the troops as to what to do on the kickoff, as yourself something; is the return more important than being able to get your field goal team in the game? NO! If you had been able to use that time out later, do you think Reggie would have been able to dash left on that flip from Matt, rather than cutting out of bounds about 10 yards sooner than he would have been tackled? So in closing, yes, Vince Young did have an AMAZING game. Dont get me wrong. He ate the USC defense for dinner, and desert.

I promise, you wont hear this kind of talk anywhere else. America wants another Michael Vick to root for. Vince, Vick, aww hell is close enough right? But, when all is said and done, its the little mistakes Carroll made that ended up deciding the game, not the legs of Vince Young. You heard it here first….

The hits just keep on coming! Here are another two emails I received.. one good, one angry (thats the fun one)…

From Mr. Coleman:
i h[o]pe ur happy because mike is fired. you all should be happy someone would want to coach the rams. if it were me they wouldn’t have a coach. because every time they start a good season they som how find a way to mess up every season

Um yeah, they find a way to mess up… its called listening to Martz… thank goodness thats all over….

From Medic:
I have to say i just saw your site on the news this morning. I wish I had known of this earlier. We went to the Christmas Eve game with tickets. My first and only FB game. What a dissapointment, I am not a RAMS fan but wished for them to win.
Can we get a GETRID OF LITTLE. com going please? I mean after his comments of “Well I just have not felt like playing my best and I know I have let the team and fans down.” WTH are we paying him $$ for not to play his best and chooses to play when he wants to play his best?

Plus I lost all respect for him when he killed that lady when driving drunk and getting off.

Other then that, congratd on the website.
Keep it up, Maybe you can follow his career to see if he makes the same mistakes when he goes to Oakland.
Medic

Anyone else notice that the people supporting the site seem to write more clearly, and seem a lot more rational? I’m sure thats just a coincidence… Anyway Medic, I hope you keep checking back. The blog will stil be active… as for Little, dont even get me started… until next time…

“We’ve shot it, now lets fix it!”

This is the best news I have heard out of Rams park since we won the Superbowl. The Rams need to clean house and fire the rest of that crap staff he had assembled and start with a clean slate. We need a Defensive minded coach who can get us a great offensive coordinator. We still have the weapons to be the Greatest Show on Turf and if we had a D to match we would be this years Colts… I cant wait to see who we get…

Hey guys…
Sorry about the lack of recent activity. I had actually hoped this site was now part of history. Apparently not though… After the Rams nearly (and probably should have) lost to the Houston Texans, we find out today that Martz wants to coach again this year. NO! Did anyone notice how we had a timeout left at the end of the game to use to kick the tying field goal? I did. I liked it. I dont want Martz anywhere near this team. Not that they are going anywhere, I just want to be done with this business…

Anyway aside from that I have been spending most of my time on my new seo forum. SEO stands for search engine optimization which is basically the art of improving your organic rankings in search engines such as google, yahoo, and msn. Anyway, I started this seo forum to be a place where seo professionals as well as anyone interested in search engine optimization can go to discuss tactics, news, and anything at all SEO related. We do have a football related thread there so if you really want to talk football with me, you can check it out by clicking that link. I think thats it for now. I hope to see you around SEOrefugee.com!

The story as told by ESPN
: St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz will not coach the team for the rest of the season.

Medical advisors have told Martz, who is home resting and receiving treatment for a bacterial infection of the heart valve, that his condition will not allow him to return to the sidelines.

Assistant head coach Joe Vitt will continue as head coach for the balance of the 2005 season.

The story posted on stlouisrams.com
: Martz Out for the Season
Monday, October 24, 2005

By Nick Wagoner
Senior Writer

Rams coach Mike Martz has been declared medically unable to coach for the remainder of the 2005 season. Martz told the Rams today that after further examination with treating physician Dr. Victoria Fraser, his illness will prevent him from performing his duties for the rest of the season.

Martz left the team and was admitted to Barnes Jewish Hospital on Sept. 30 for treatment and evaluation. Martz announced on Oct. 10 that he would be leaving the team. Interim head coach Joe Vitt will continue in his duties as the head coach for the rest of the season.

The originally scheduled 3 p.m press conference was moved back to 4:30 p.m. today.

The story according to me
: Martz, pissed off that he was not allowed to call a play from home yesterday… has informed the Rams that he will stay home the rest of the year and has a note from his doctor to back up his position. Of course Martz SHOULDN’T have been allowed to make that call, but I am sure it hurt his little feelings (and probably ego) to be shown up publicly by people in the Rams organization. Now maybe this is legit and the doc said “Don’t go near the office” but it all just seems WAY to convenient.
